Car rentals are widely available in Montreal, but unless you're heading somewhere outside of the city limits, they are not particularly necessary.  The city's Metro , or subway, can get you to most well-visited and tourist areas, and they are clean, efficient and reasonably priced.   Visitors to Montreal are often impressed by the "underground malls" found at various Metro stops, some of which go down for several floors and are pretty much indistinguishable from their above ground counterparts.  The city is also widely covered by bus service.
     Taxi service is also efficient and reasonable in Montreal at all hours, and this is the best option if you do not have a car and want to go to some attractions across the St. Lawrence River such as the Biodome or the Festin du Gouverneur , a dinner show located in an 18th Century English fort.
     The most exciting method of transportation in Montreal may be the Lachine rapids ride, which takes tourists on a jet boat up the river into the once-impassable Lachine rapids, an experience that you will never forget.
