“Cozy? More Like Claustrophobic”

W Hotel

1 of 5 stars
Phila., PA
Oct 22, 2008

Stayed there on business for 2 nights, will never return. The lobby is a nightclub, couldn't even here the woman who was checking me in. Got a room on the 16th floor, it was a "cozy, queen" that was a claustrophobic cave. Lighting was terrible, don't plan on getting any work done. It is impossible to get from the entrance of the room to the bathroom without bumping into the TV.
And they charged my for 3 nights eventhough I only stayed 2 -business plans changed at the last minute. Their cancellation policy "The time for canceling without penalty has passed. If you cancel, the forfeiture amount will be a 1 night penalty. If you cancel after 04:00PM hotel time [3 days prior to check-in date] , the forfeiture amount will be 100.00 percent. There may be additional applicable charges and taxes."
The only thing that I enjoyed about this hotel was the bath products.

“Read this you'll be shocked!”

W Hotel

Stayed there on business.

- Hotel got the booking wrong
- 1st room I checked in, no electricals working i.e. lights, TV, etc. etc.
- 2nd room they gave me, 2nd night found a cockroach in the bathroom!

They gave me 50% of the bill and $50 credit at the bar. You can imagine that when you pay those prices you expect a better class of hotel.

Dark, dingy hotel, nice if you are into olive green colours.

Not going back.

Some of the staff were friendly (then again its NYC)

“Claustrophobia and DARK”

W Hotel

Oct 14, 2008

Just visted New York city during our Canada's Thanksgiving weekend. Beautiful city and we stayed at the W Hotel on Lexington and 53. If you are claustrophobia and fear of darkness then this hotel is not right for you. Rooms are dimmed dark. This hotel is for young teens who like "Club Atmosphere" settings. I booked using Priceline which was a mistake because I set the ratings to be a 4 star hotel and I ended up with this actual 3-3.5 star rating.

Valet parking put some small dents on my doors so please check your vehicle before leaving the hotel.

I would visit this city again but not any of the W Hotel chains.

“Great Beds - Weird Bathrooms”

W Hotel

3 of 5 stars
expicalado
Oct 1, 2008

My fiance and I stayed at the W in Times Square. We had a decent view of all the lights, but had nice heavy drapes on the windows to shut out all the lights at night.
The beds were so comfortable and sheets were great quality.

The bathroom was weird because the walls are....well...like opaqe white glass or plastic? You cant really see through but you can see a persons figure if they stand near the wall and the light in the bathroom is on....it's odd...I was uneasy when using the toilet. I know its suposed to be trendy but it's not comfortable.

The price...well....I'd say it's way too $$$.....but then again its times square.

“OK for the price as I had a great deal on that hotel”

W Hotel

3 of 5 stars
Boston. MA
Sep 27, 2008

The W on Lexington and 51 was an OK NYC hotel. The lobby is tight, service was acceptable for NYC hotel (not polite but not rude - I would say cold professional greeting), the room was small and the bathroom was extremely small. The furniture and the decor was new that made the room acceptable. Prepare to pay for everything. Overall -- for $250 a night for a NYC hotel I would give it an OK ratings. The W at Times Sq is a better hotel.
