Talk about not judging a book by it’s cover! When we initially pulled up to this place I thought it looked like a beat down motel. It was awkward going into the tiny office to check in and then lugging our baggage down to our room. However, upon entering the room I’d have to say I was very impressed! We stayed on the second floor and we had a mini kitchen, granite counter tops in the kitchen and bathroom, huge beds, vaulted ceilings and tons of living space. Plus, it was a ½ block down from the beach. Unbelievable rates and perfect location. The breakfast was awkward but it was decent enough. I would highly recommend this place!

Lovely room - well decorated, new looking and spacious. On the second floor you get high ceilings that are really nice. Toilets seem to run too long but rooms are nice. Free breakfast is not very good - just mini pastry and juice or coffee. But i would return. Location is good, not far from Starbucks, Grocery Store and restaurants. Rooms look like you are spending more on this hotel than you will.

We spent 4 nights here and were very pleased with the cleanliness, the outstanding staff, and the great location. It's not a 5 star resort but it is the perfect, inexpensive choice for the budget traveler. We will definitely stay here again. If you do stay here, make sure you try the Mexican food at Surf Taco - two blocks away on the same street. It's not fancy but it has fantastic food and incredibly cheap prices. And you can BYOB.

We found this hotel online and called to reserve a room after reading the reviews. We were surprised when they advised us that it would save us even more money to use their website to reserve! However, when we called a few weeks later they had no record of our reservation. After a day of phone tag we finalized our room...which they upgraded because of the inconvenience. We loved our room, very tastefully upgraded, comfy beds, terrific location, super friendly staff.
As great as it was, we did experience a couple drawbacks. One was that there was only 1 pillow per person, typically there are at least extra pillows in a dresser drawer, the air conditioner didn't work (but they gave us a small heater/fan) and lastly, the breakfast was a bit of a disappointment. I'm all for pastries once in awhile, but not 6 days in a row w/o fruit or even milk!
All in all this hotel is a great little find, we were pleasantly surprised and should we find ourselves in San Diego again we would absolutely stay here!
