If you need a cheap place to stay, stay at the Bay Inn and Suites, but you get what you pay for. The motel is right across the street from a strip club, the pool is in the parking lot, and the neighborhood appears sketchy.
Right from the start we had problems. We called a few days in advance to make sure we could do early check in as our flight got in early in the morning. The motel assured us this would be fine. However, when we arrived, they told us that they had no room available for us and had no record of us calling.
Next, we needed a rollaway bed so that an extra person could stay with us unexpectedly. They told us that there would be an extra charge for a rollaway bed, which is ridiculous because we could have just asked to be moved to a room with two queen size beds instead of staying in the room with one king size bed (both rooms are the same price). Instead of asking them to move us, we got the rollaway bed.
Upon checking out, I asked for a receipt for the extra charge. The front desk person told us that since we prepaid for our room through AAA, everything had already been taken care of. I assumed that they had comped the rollaway charge since we had already had trouble with the early check in.
After I got home, I noticed a charge on my credit card for the price of the rollaway bed AND an additional person fee, which they failed to inform me of. I have been calling the motel for 2 weeks trying to resolve the charges and have still not spoken with a manager.
The only positive things I have to say about the Bay Inn and Suites is that it is inexpensive and located near IHOP and public transportation.
