“Wireless Internet not available in all rooms”

Bay Inn and Suites

Nov 10, 2007

The past four days, I stayed at Bay Inn and Suites at SeaWorld in San Diego. They advertise "complimentary wireless internet access." Most
of the rooms, in fact, do not have a wireless signal that will allow people to hook into the Internet. I had two laptops and wifi phone with me on this trip. None worked from my room on their signal. Walking around with one of the devices trying to find a usable signal,
I concluded that about 10% of the rooms probably had a usable signal.
When I asked about staying in one of those rooms, the desk clerk told me they were not available.

As I was sitting in the lobby, attempting to stay connected with a low, intermittent signal - even in their "best" location - I heard the
front desk clerk repeatedly say to other guests on the phone, "It's working." From the rest of the conversation, the subject was ovbviously Internet access. Three other guests came to the small lobby with their laptops when I was there. While there was a local bar advertising free wireless access a block or so away, as one of the
other guests put it, "I don't feel comfortable carrying my laptop down there in this neighborhood." I agreed. Management made no attempt
to improve the situation or compensate me or others. I recommend people stay away. San Diego, on the other hand, was beautiful. Safe travels.

“Good Budget Motel”

Bay Inn and Suites

May 24, 2007

This is a standard motel and met our expectations for this type of accommodation. We found the staff friendly and helpful. The room was average but clean.

There is a free breakfast (coffee, juice, danish, muffins).

There is a Hustler Club across the street but we didn't find the area sleezy. There were a large number of cheap eats (Pizza Hut, Panda, IHOP, etc) close by. If there at the weekend the local swap meet is across the street as well and we found it cheap.

If you want a cheap base to operate from while in San Diego then Its a good budget stay.

“Poor management”

If you need a cheap place to stay, stay at the Bay Inn and Suites, but you get what you pay for. The motel is right across the street from a strip club, the pool is in the parking lot, and the neighborhood appears sketchy.

Right from the start we had problems. We called a few days in advance to make sure we could do early check in as our flight got in early in the morning. The motel assured us this would be fine. However, when we arrived, they told us that they had no room available for us and had no record of us calling.

Next, we needed a rollaway bed so that an extra person could stay with us unexpectedly. They told us that there would be an extra charge for a rollaway bed, which is ridiculous because we could have just asked to be moved to a room with two queen size beds instead of staying in the room with one king size bed (both rooms are the same price). Instead of asking them to move us, we got the rollaway bed.

Upon checking out, I asked for a receipt for the extra charge. The front desk person told us that since we prepaid for our room through AAA, everything had already been taken care of. I assumed that they had comped the rollaway charge since we had already had trouble with the early check in.

After I got home, I noticed a charge on my credit card for the price of the rollaway bed AND an additional person fee, which they failed to inform me of. I have been calling the motel for 2 weeks trying to resolve the charges and have still not spoken with a manager.

The only positive things I have to say about the Bay Inn and Suites is that it is inexpensive and located near IHOP and public transportation.

“Good on Average”

Bay Inn and Suites

Mar 31, 2007

We stayed at this motel for 5 nights in March 2007. Our room was clean but with a moldy/chlorine scent. They could use the new stock of towels, as their existings ones are almost worn out from multi-washes. The wallpaper was kind a old too. Location-is Ok, on a busy Street. It is next to many restaurants and accross from the Exotic Dancer club. However, it did not bother us at all, the club is separate on its own.

This motel is close to Seaworld but not in a walking distance. It is about 4-5 min drive on a car accross the Bridge. Also close to highways, and to Old Town San Diego, Mission bay Park/beach.

The motel offered continental breakfast could be better than a Muffin and coffee. No cereal, apples, or milk. The good thing, it is right next to IHOP so if you are really a "hot breakfast" person, it is right there.

Staff is very friendly, willing to give directions, and about the area information. The reception desk has tickets for area attractions as well.

In general, we liked this Motel (not hotel) and it is relatively Good in average. Will stay there again.

Thanks!

“Flexibility and clean room”

Bay Inn and Suites

Well, we stayed here one night and found the place when we got hungry looking for a hotel. We went downtown then to arena area where we stopped at the IHOP on Midway next to the Bay Inn. The Bay Inn is close to everything and they will bargain with you. I talked to the hostess and after some introduction she began the auction. I basically told her what I thought a room is worth then she describe what she had available and I paid a going rate price. It was still a lot of money though after taking into consideration what gas cost these days and how much money I spent just getting to the hotel. So, if you want to check in early or want to bargain for a room this is the place where you can set your own price and time. So If you want to check in at 9am you could I believe.
