It has a great design. Feels very cool. Service was excellent. Beds very comfortable. I dug it.

I stayed here with my 16year old from June 22nd thru to June 25th.....we had a 3 night whistle-stop visit planned to shop and sight-see!

I would definately recommend The James. Check in was a breeze, quick and efficient and on entering the room we were very impressed with the 2 large double beds, plasma tv on the wall, full length mirror (my daughter thought this was great for viewing how she looked in her various outfits she bought!!!!), lovely bathroom, dressing robes and slippers - everything was so clean and chic!!!!

The location of the James is 2nd to none....you walk out the door, turn right, take about 100 steps and you are on Michigan Avenue - the Magnificent Mile. This is where you will find all the shops, ranging from H&M/Express (cheaper end of the market, but still great) to Chanel/Louis Vuitton....

Again perfectly placed for numerous restaurants, you cant go wrong, TGI's, Rainforest Cafe,Mcdonalds, .... we ate at The Drake and Shaws CrabHouse (both a must if you go to Chicago) and everywhere is walkable from the James - you dont need taxi's.

We didnt actually eat in the hotel, but found the staff to be excellent at their jobs - i wanted to buy some junior trainers for my son, but neither the Nike, Adidas or Puma sold his age group, so we asked the concierge if he could suggest anywhere....within seconds he had printed off a map of a 6 storey sports store that sold all brands, and it turned out it was 5 minutes away from the James, just in the opposite direction we ususally walked.....excellent, got trainers and football boots!!!!

All in all, would definately recommend the James.......and of course Chicago!!!!

The James is located in a great area, down the street from Magnificent Mile. The decor is modern and minimalist. There was a plasma tv, a player for your iPod, and free Internet.

The staff is very friendly and helpful.

The only drawback was the washroom had a sliding door, which doesn't offer total privacy. But the soap and cream provided smelled great.

The bar always had people, and the atmosphere was great to sit for a drink.

For the price, you can't beat it. I would go back.

From the moment we arrived we were stunned with the excellence of this hotel. Certainly not your standard, all amenities, cookie-cutter place, which to me was much of the charm. The staff were incredibly friendly, swift and accomodating. The James is extremely clean and well taken care of. It is in a fantastic location and I would stay there again in a heartbeat. I am a tough sell too- some call be impossible to please when it comes to accomodations. Not this time. Great job James!
