“Just Average”

Hyatt Place Orlando/Convention Center

3 of 5 stars
San Diego, CA
Aug 13, 2008

We are a family of 4, kids ages 12 & 10. The room didn't work well for us. Because the sleeping areas are divided by a partition rather than a door, everyone had to go to sleep at the same time. (unfortunately our kids won't sleep with the tv or lights on). The TV is shared by both sides of the room.

There wasn't much drawer space. And no microwave. We stayed nearly 2 weeks, drawer space and a microwave would have been nice. The continental breakfast was okay, although limited. No laundry room, although you can use the laundry room at the hotel next door.

As far as cleanliness, again it was okay. It could have been better.

Overall, this hotel would be okay for couples or business travelers. I would not recommend it for families.

“Stay here every time we come to Orlando!”

Hyatt Place Orlando/Convention Center

Hollywood, Florida

We stay here whenever we come to Orlando. The hotel is clean and smells good! The beds are by far the most comfortable of anywhere we have stayed. The breakfast is nice, with Starbucks coffee, a personal favorite. We appreciate the cleanliness of the rooms and the comfort of the rooms. Would suggest for traveling business not for families. Would def. reccommend for whenever you come to Orlando.

“enjoyed our stay”

Hyatt Place Orlando/Convention Center

stayed at the Hyatt for 1 week from 29th June.

The location is excellent being on Universal drive but backing onto to the nicer part of International Drive. Tony Romas, TGI Fridays, Bahama Breeze, Dennys, Cattlemans steakhouse and Ponderosa are all within 10 minutes walk.

A car isn't essential as you can catch the trolley bus on either Universal and International drives.

Other hotels next to the Hyatt are Extended Stay Deluxe, Homewood Suites and Springfield studios - all looked good.

Breakfast can be a bit of a chore if the hotel is full as the food area is only small and there can be quite a queue that said everything is fresh and sets you up for the day. There is cereal, muffins, bagels, fresh fuit, oj, tea and coffee.

The pool area is a bit small bit pleasant enough.

The staff are very helpful and all try their hardest to ensure that your stay is worry free and pleasant.

Next to reception there are a couple of PCs to help you check on flights, print boarding passes, check emais etc.

The rooms are very comfortable and we had one that was exactly like the earlier reviewers pictures. It was great having a fridge to keep beers, milk, coke etc.

Got a very good deal for this hotel on hotwire and wasn't in any way disappointed - would stay here again without hesitation.

Tip - visit the official Orlando visitors centre directly opposite the hotel on International drive - very helpful and some tickets are cheaper than on the gate.

“Great for business travelers”

Hyatt Place Orlando/Convention Center

4 of 5 stars
Toronto, Canada
Jul 3, 2008

The rooms are much smaller than appear in the photos, but this is a great size for the business person or a couple. Does not seem condusive to families. This is a self-service hotel with no restaurant but the location is convenient. All the rooms are the same small size and just vary with a king or two doubles, but all are equipped with a pullout. With a desk area, and a great service area with sink and fridge, there is not much more room if the pullout is open. The room was clean, the mattress comfortable, more than enough pillows. Barely-there closet but there are three large drawers by the bathroom area. Air-conditioner sounds as if it's on the runway ready for take-off. The sound of doors banging in the hallways, and kids running up and down indicated that there was just no room for them in the rooms. I had no in-room lock box so I had to trek to the front desk twice daily to get to my box. Decent fitness room with cardio equipment. The pool area is small where not too many kids can hang out, and it gets very loud since it faces Universal Drive. Service varied - every single morning I had to ask for towels both in the fitness room and the pool area. The continental breakfast area layout is bizarre in that it does not work for the number of guests as self-serve, and it's small counter areas mean the staff must work quickly to replenish regularly. No phone book in the room, so I had to phone the front desk to get me a local number - it took them 15 minutes and three additional calls from me to get me a simple phone number. Most of the front desk was friendly and helpful. All in all, it's a pretty decent hotel and good location for the business traveler, but don't forget the earplugs.

“A good value”

Hyatt Place Orlando/Convention Center

4 of 5 stars
Springfield, Illinois
Jun 23, 2008

We were very pleased with the Hyatt Place on International Drive. The living room area and bedroom area were as advertised on the internet. The sink is open to the room, with the toilet and tub behind the bathroom door. The bathroom itself was a little small, but not a problem for the 2 of us.
Continental breakfast buffet in the morning is nothing fancy, but adequate for our needs. Breakfast consisted of coffee, tea, juice, toast, bagels, cereal, yogurt and fruit. If you want hot breakfast, that is an option for additioinal charge. We didn't do hot breakfast since we knew we'd have plenty to eat for lunch and dinner.
The hotel is a few miles from Universal Studios and Sea World. Disney is a little further away, but still pretty close. We drove to Universal a few days for both parks and CityWalk restaurants. Also, if you don't want to drive, being on I-Drive, you can walk to dinner, shops, mini-golf, etc. (many choices for each) without the trouble of driving and parking.
