Wanting to get away for the weekend we decided to head to Key West as we drove down we stopped at a Visitor Center to see where we should stay. The agent told us about a new place in town call the Orchid Key Inn that had just finished a renovation and he had heard nothing but good things from other guest. So we decided to contact the hotel and for the rate you couulkd not beat it along with the direct location on Duval St. which is main street of Key West. When we arrived at the Motel we looked at each other in shock. We could noit believe what we were seeing we thought it was all to good to be true and believed they had quoted us the wrong rate. We went to check in the lobby was beautiful with a full mosaic wall of some type the pool area was even better with relaxing lounge chairs and a hot tub. We were then told the room came with a complimentary continental breakfast and Happy Hour each day. The rooms I mean I don't even know what to say it was the nicest hotel room I have ever stayed in Plasma TV, bath robes, plush bedding, and great bath amentities. The entire staff was truely five star the stay was so great we decided to extend our stay two more nights. We will definitely stay here from now on and recommend it to all of our friends.

Reviews from earlier this year are no longer accurate! We were thrilled with the room and service of this inn. The grounds were immaculate, comfortable, intimate, and relaxing. Hard to believe we were on Duvall St. and so close to all the action! The room was beautifully decorated and a great use of the space with a wall-mounted big screen TV. The bathroom had a nice deep sink and a huge shower. Happy Hour is hosted in the evening, and in the morning, breakfast is offered with a very helpful attendant. The pool and hot tub are open 24 hours. Parking on the main strip can be difficult to find, so we were very happy to have the parking spot available. We had no problems with the roosters as others have (the roosters are part of the Key West experience --only way to avoid them is earplugs!) We were fortunate to receive a great rate for the value with a walk-in reservation. No question, we would stay there again.

What a place. It had only been open for 2wks when we stayed. We just happened to stumble on it.We had a one bedroom suite, and payed for just a room.It was pure luxury even down to the shampoo and shower gel in the bathroom, the shower was huge more than enough for me,it even had a weighing scale so i knew if i had put on weight while i was on our 2wks stay in Florida. The pool was a bit small but there was only 6 of us using it.Its not one of the cheapest, but my GOD it was worth it.

“romantic getaway”

Absolutely the nicest hotel we have ever traveled to…

My wife and I were on a weekend road trip down to Key West for a little romantic getaway on somewhat of a wild hair. Friends of ours visited Key West in July and said that they had seen this place being built and it looked amazing. To our surprise when we called they had just had a grand opening. Not knowing much else about the hotel other than it was right on Duval Street I was nervous.
Upon arriving we could see the neon sign a few blocks from the place. It’s a beautiful two story historic neon sign. We pulled into the parking lot and we both hit each other in shock of how beautiful the place was. We entered the lobby like two kids in a candy store. The staff quickly checked us in as well as upgraded us free of charge to a suite as being one of the first 24 guests. We entered the room and wow! My wife gasped for air as she turned every corner. The room was nothing but luxury. Marble floors, plasma tvs, an incredible spa style bathroom with very nice glass tiles and a shower for at least two. Past the separate living room and bath retreat was a king size bedroom. This bed was beyond heavenly, crisp white linens and pillows multiple layers high.
We both unpacked and headed for the pool… You walk past these water features and gardens and around the corner from the Orchid Bar (more on the bar later) is a very nice pool and spa. The spa is nestled in a corner connected to a rain waterfall over a huge orchid mosaic art wall.
We cleaned up and attended the complimentary happy hour at the Orchid Bar. This place just does not stop. The bar was as beautiful as the rest. The service was top notch… We had a lovely glass of wine and were able to meet some lovely guests. Swapped stories about were to dine, dance, etc. The best thing is the location to everything. We never used the car… We walked to dinner (fav. was Martins and Michael’s), the beach, and the piano bar is just two block (la tea da). Hemingway’s and the historic light house are practically in the back yard of the hotel.
We ended up staying an extra day even though we both wanted to stay several more… The staff was very accommodating, room was beyond amazing. The Orchid Key really made our trip and we can’t wait to come back.
One more note: On top of everything the hotel offered; the high speed internet is free, the local & LONG distance calls are free, Happy Hour is FREE, and breakfast was also free. I thought nothing was free these days; Orchid Key proved me wrong…

“Loved This New, Comfy Boutique Hotel”

Orchid Key Inn

Oct 8, 2008
4/4 found this review helpful

We spent a couple of nights at this brand new, upscale Key West boutique hotel, the Orchid Key Inn. The hotel opened less than a week ago and I believe we were the hotel’s first guests! It is located where the old Key Lodge Motel used to be – right on Duval Street, but with the additional benefit of being just a few short blocks away from the rowdy bars and partygoers. (Disregard any reviews from before October 2008 because they would pertain to the old motel that no longer exists.)

Our room was spectacular. We had an environmentally friendly Jacuzzi tub, a HD flat-screen TV, great lighting and fabulous artwork, FREE long-distance telephone usage, and FREE internet usage. But the room’s best feature was its bed. Comfy, comfy, comfy, with all sorts of pillows and comforters. If you lower the temp in the room, it feels awesome to snuggle up in bed under all those covers.

Although we did not spend much time in the pool, the outdoor area is incredibly inviting. The chaise lounges are shaped in a way that invites you to fall asleep while catching a tan, there is a waterfall that soothes you as you lounge in the outdoor Jacuzzi, water gently overflows from large landscaping pots, music serenades you throughout the property (the speakers look like landscaping rocks), and you are never more than a few feet away from liquid sustenance provided by the owners in their Orchid Bar. There were cold drinks available, water, beer and wine. This is also where the hotel serves a continental breakfast to its guests.

It is clear that the owners, Bill and John, wanted their new hotel to be “green” friendly. Everything about it is designed in a way that is mindful of its impact on the environment. And even if you don’t stay there, make a point of visiting the reception area to take a look at the unique wall that periodically changes color. It is very cool indeed.

The owners also own the Almond Tree Inn across the street – where we have stayed as well. And while you cannot go wrong spending time at either location, these two properties are very different.

We loved the Orchid Key Inn. It truly is a winner.
