We booked this hotel for a twin centre trip to LA and New York. This was our first time in LA and we loved it! However we did not like the Hollywood area, at night, its scary, sleazy and not to safe and Im from a big city! however in the day its lovely to walk along the walk of fame, go the kodak and see all the famous sights! the hotel is great check in staff were most helpful and upgraded our room to a suite as I was with my family and celebrated my 21st birthday while we were there. we also got a suprise with a cake and drinks sent to the room on the day of my birthday which was lovely. The room was spacious and had a king size bed, sofa bed and we got a roll a way bed. The bathroom was great, HUGE it was like 2 rooms with a dressing area and then the bath, shower etc. we were very impressed and had a lovely time. Rooms were very clean, we had plenty of towels and the likes. I would deff stay here again however I wish it was in a better area because the Beverly Hills area is alot nicer.

This place looks great but is not as nice as it seems. The service is pretty lazy and there's all kinds of weird things wrong with it.

First of all, check out is at 11 a.m. and a late checkout is 1. For $50 you can get 6 (which is actually kind of nice). But, they never cleaned our room on the late checkout day even after we called several times. Another day, the maid showed up at 6 a.m. asking if we needed towels.

Their keycards work once before they don't let you in your room and you have to go down and wait in line to get them rebooted. The elevators take forever (literally, like 5 minutes to catch one). The pool area is very nice but was filled with loud drunk people when we were there.

Oh, and there was absolutely nothing in the mini-bar. Not sure what that's all about but was a) inconvenient and b) seems like a stupid business model.

Totally underwhelmed, go find a better boutique hotel in Hollywood.

“Bad Hotel For A Family Vacation”

Renaissance Hollywood Hotel

Nov 4, 2008

I would not recommend this hotel for a family stay. few bad things - no fridge, no microwave, paid internet connectivity, paid/inconvenient parking, paid breakfast.. Worst is that pool is very small, has no life guards/life jackets for kids, there is no sauna/hot tub. Room setup is contemporary but furniture is low quality, carpets are dirty and I did not get courtsey newspaper 3 out of 4 day stay. Some other Marriott's I have stayed have flat screen TV's, for whatever reason this hotel doesn't. Hotel is conveniently located in heart of Hollywood but very inconvenient for a family stay. I do not recommend for the price you pay for this hotel.

“Best location”

Renaissance Hollywood Hotel

Stayed at the renaissance for three nights. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Requested a fridge and received one within 5 minutes of entering our room. Staff at reception were very helpful and so were conceirge. Had a wonderful view of the Hollywood sign which was great. The fitness centre was excellent and the pool area was a great size. The location of everything we wanted to see was within walking distance. Walk of fame, shopping and eateries. Ate at johnny Rockets hamburgers. Best hamburger I ever had puts our hamburger places to shame in Australia they serve theirs half cold.
The metro station was within walking distance and easy to use to get to Universal Studios. Felt quite safe in the area but would take a little caution at night times.

I would definetly recommend this hotel for a perfect stay.

“Great Location”

Renaissance Hollywood Hotel

4 of 5 stars
Rickmansworth
Nov 2, 2008

We stayed here for a week in October. The hotel is in a great location, easy to get to all attractions.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was on the 18th floor and had a view of the Hollywood sign.
The room was of good size and clean as well as the bathroom - but agree with the comment about not having a fan in the bathroom.

We had breakfast in the hotel once which was $20 per person. I would recommend Bobs Donut Stop - opposite the hotel - looks quite shabby but the breakfast was good..as well as the donuts...for less than half the price!

The Crepe place in the Hollywood & Highland centre was also good.

We hired a car and valet parking at the hotel was $30 per night.

Overall had a great stay and would highly recommend staying here.
