“Expensive/ would not go back there”

Hotel Jardines de Nivaria

Have stayed in Jardines de Nivaria in a suite 2 adults/2children for one week. Wonderful weather in October.
Rooms are very small (our suite's size was like an ordinary 2 person room in other hotels like Cleopatra Palace).
The heated swimming pool is absolutely fabulous, just warm enough even when it's windy or cloudy.
It's supposed to be a 5 stars, but as for the restaurant, I would give maximum 3 stars (my wife is a better cook !!!).
Every morning there is the "sunbed race" as every one puts its towels, if you wake up at 9 o clock, you won't get a chance to lie by the pool !!
The rooms by the swimming pool are very very noisy at night with pusic playing loud until 23h.. Don't go there with kids !
Do ask for a room with sea view, they are more quiet (as well as more expensive !).
Some person of the bar downstairs has been very rude to us as asking for a draft beer, seemed like we really were bothering him and sayed to another employee in spanish ("we'll be happy when they live"), tough luck we understand a little bit of spanish !!
The service is absolutely not 5 stars !!
The only great thing about this hotel is the swimming pool.

The beach downstairs is black sand. We'd rather go to another hotel like gran Tacande next year, it has a better location close to playa del Duque with beautiful sand.

Just back from a weeks half board at this superb Hotel.
Excellent location, turn right for lovely walk right through to LaCaletta or left for Blackpool...take your pick.
Pool really is heated not just slightly warmed as are so many
'heated pools'.
Will definitely be our choice of hotel for next visit to the Island.

This Hotel is family owned and is very well run . Management and staff are very pleasant and very helpful. The rooms are very well maintained indeed. The general cleanliness inside and out is a credit to themselves. We shall be returning to this hotel at Christmas our eighth time and are looking forward to doing so.

I have just come back from this lovely hotel with my two teenage daughters and we all had a really great time.

This is a very nice hotel. Everything is just right ,not mega fantastic, but correct. The maid cleaned the rooms quickly and well every day, room service was excellent and breakfasts were great. So often in hotels like this the breakfast look great but when you get down to it can be a bit boring but these were great!

It was very busy around the pool and yes people do get up at the crack of dawn to reserve seats but we still managed to get the seats we wanted.

We loved the Tiffany bar after dinner and my girls really enjoyed the live entertainment, oh and the cocktails were great!

I would come again!

“very nice hotel”

Hotel Jardines de Nivaria

We returned yesterday from a weeks stay at this hotel, and thoroughly enjoyed it.

We stayed on a B&B basis. The breakfast was very good as advised in previous reviews. They had actimal, cava, fresh and tinned fruit, cooked breakfast, amazing cakes and pastries, cereals, salads, cheese and ham. I could go on.

The rooms were very spacious and we had quite a secluded balcony (with a sea view which we did not book). Out the door of the room they had waterfalls and an amazing variety of plants and flowers. It was really pretty. After 2 days our air conditioning stopped working but they fixed the problem immediately. Also the light on the balcony wasn't working and they fixed that with no problem. We did also have a cockroach in the room (which is not the hotels fault as it is a hot climate and they can come under the doors ) it was in the cabinet under the fridge. We phoned reception as I really hate bugs and they sent a lady with an insecticide and it came out immediately and they got rid of it.

The grounds and pool were amazing. Beautiful plants everywhere and the pool was heated. It was a really nice place to relax.

My husband and I are in our late 30's, but the age group at the hotel seemed a lot older and the entertainment was aimed at an older age group. This did not bother us at all as we wanted to relax with peace and quiet and felt very comfortable at this hotel. Some of the acts were quite good.

We ate at the pool bar a few times which was fine. We did however find it really hard to get a decent meal out. We did go to otello's after our walk at the baranco del infierno and ordered garlic chicken. It just wasn't what we expected and it reminded me of Southern fried chicken and was very greasy, but cheap.

We ate at the hotel buffet once and it was Asian night. The food was good and lots of vegetables but the sauces were not very authentic. I think if we had know what the food was like outside the hotel we would have booked half board. It was quite expensive if you paid every night at 33.60 euros each plus soft drinks or alcohol on top.

I really liked the interior of the hotel with the Tiffany Bar and lovely plants inside. A glass of sparkling cava 3.95 euros, beer Dorado special 3.90 euros. Not to bad compared to some hotels we have been to.

We hired a car from the hotel which was probably more expensive that if we did it outside but it was easy. They had an offer on 3 days for the price of 2. 120 euros. (vw polo). They did have nicer cars if you want one.

The highlight of the island was Mount Tiede and the National Park, this was well worth seeing.

The staff at the hotel were really nice and friendly and I really enjoyed staying there.
