We returned yesterday from a weeks stay at this hotel, and thoroughly enjoyed it.
We stayed on a B&B basis. The breakfast was very good as advised in previous reviews. They had actimal, cava, fresh and tinned fruit, cooked breakfast, amazing cakes and pastries, cereals, salads, cheese and ham. I could go on.
The rooms were very spacious and we had quite a secluded balcony (with a sea view which we did not book). Out the door of the room they had waterfalls and an amazing variety of plants and flowers. It was really pretty. After 2 days our air conditioning stopped working but they fixed the problem immediately. Also the light on the balcony wasn't working and they fixed that with no problem. We did also have a cockroach in the room (which is not the hotels fault as it is a hot climate and they can come under the doors ) it was in the cabinet under the fridge. We phoned reception as I really hate bugs and they sent a lady with an insecticide and it came out immediately and they got rid of it.
The grounds and pool were amazing. Beautiful plants everywhere and the pool was heated. It was a really nice place to relax.
My husband and I are in our late 30's, but the age group at the hotel seemed a lot older and the entertainment was aimed at an older age group. This did not bother us at all as we wanted to relax with peace and quiet and felt very comfortable at this hotel. Some of the acts were quite good.
We ate at the pool bar a few times which was fine. We did however find it really hard to get a decent meal out. We did go to otello's after our walk at the baranco del infierno and ordered garlic chicken. It just wasn't what we expected and it reminded me of Southern fried chicken and was very greasy, but cheap.
We ate at the hotel buffet once and it was Asian night. The food was good and lots of vegetables but the sauces were not very authentic. I think if we had know what the food was like outside the hotel we would have booked half board. It was quite expensive if you paid every night at 33.60 euros each plus soft drinks or alcohol on top.
I really liked the interior of the hotel with the Tiffany Bar and lovely plants inside. A glass of sparkling cava 3.95 euros, beer Dorado special 3.90 euros. Not to bad compared to some hotels we have been to.
We hired a car from the hotel which was probably more expensive that if we did it outside but it was easy. They had an offer on 3 days for the price of 2. 120 euros. (vw polo). They did have nicer cars if you want one.
The highlight of the island was Mount Tiede and the National Park, this was well worth seeing.
The staff at the hotel were really nice and friendly and I really enjoyed staying there.
