We stopped at the 5* Sonesta Beach Resort on 'all inclusive' and not it's sister Hotel across the road. After booking our holiday i read reviews on this web site regarding the Hotel and it's location they were varied and by the time our holiday had arrived i had got to the point that i did'nt want go. I am glad i did, staff could not be more freindly, the Hotel and it'sgrounds superb and the rooms were spacious and clean as for the food fantastic and plentyiful.with a choice of restaraunts. See the towel man at the start of your holiday and you will have no problem geting a lilo beside one of the many pools or on the beach. The Hotel beach has some fantastic snorkellig but go on an organised trip and you will not be dissapointed. Book your trips at the Hotel beech stand and not your rep, they are as cheap as any and don't be affraid to haggle, snorkelling and quad biking in the desert is a must. A walk from the beech to the town centre is pleasent and the atmoshere is incredible. You will get approached by traders, particularly the ladies, they all speak English if you want to buy, then haggle if not be pollite and walk away. Don't be affraid to delve into their culture enjoy the experience. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Wow thats were i start with this holiday and wow althrough the 2 whole weeks,in everyway i could not fault the hotel and complex you never want for anything and you never have to open any doors been treat like a king and queen what an expierence, and snorkelling of the private beach is a must it's a living aquarium without the boundries,i went into the sanai national park Ras mohammed to do some snorkelling and although its a 3 hour journey its a must to do never to be missed, the food is excellent not one tummy bug whilst we were there, the room was like a flat it was that big very comfortable and a double bed that was 8ftx8ft and fantastically air conditioned, nite time entrtainment starts whilst you having your evening meal and finishes approx 11pm and not to be missed very proffesional,a must also is the breeze bar on the beach run by a fantastic bloke called rafa who is a real character.and as for pools to many to choose from, naama bay is also a must but especially on a nite when its busy lit up and in its element,Hard Rock Cafe is a vey busy place and takes ages to get a seat and get served and quiet expensive, loved egypt so much goung back in 2009 to Marsa Alam to any one out there egypt is the up and coming place to be and go .

“Great hotel, helpful staff, cool animation team”

Just back from sonesta beach resort, there are four of us, my daughters are 11 and 8. We had a fantastic time. Weather was very hot, what can you expect in july and we all suffered from "Delhi belly" at some point, not down to the food but more the heat.
Animation staff around pool great fun, but left you alone if you did not want to join in. Considering their obvious limited budget constraints, the shows at night were of a reasonable standard, some of them were very funny (Benny Hill type humour).

Most of the animation staff spoke very good English, they were all Italien and some of them also spoke french, they conversed in all 3 languages throughout their working day.

Pools fantastic, Le Dome great, great waiter staff, very attentive. Hotel very clean, fresh towels daily, gardens lovely, well attended daily by gardening staff.

Went on 2 trips, Snorkelling in Red Sea, which was great fun and also Cairo which was amazing and well worth doing.

Would definately recommend this hotel, we were all inclusive, food a bit repetitive, but they tried hard by having a different buffet on over the 7 days, Tex Mex, Italien, French, International, Oriental, Barbecue and Egyptian. There was a pasta station each night and at least one meat dish aswell as a fish dish. Eggs made to your liking in the morning.

Only criticism would be no ice-cream at meals for kids but we can survive without that, when there are several other types of desserts to choose from.

“Not 5 star!!”

Sonesta Beach Resort & Casino

This hotel is definately not 4/5 star rating. I would say a 3 star only.

The rooms were of a good standard and kept clean. The swimming pools were clean and well kept.

The beach was absolutey awful....... if you want relaxation on the beach then do not book at the sonesta - the sun loungers were practically on top of one another and the music was blaring out. You had to stand back and ask yourself were you in bogner regis or sharm??? There was no drinks service what so ever and the bar staff were so fed up with chatting to you at the bar..!!

The service at the hotel was not very good - porters were not helpful with luggage and we were left lugging the suitcases in 40 degree heat across the hotel complex while 9 different staff members walked straight passed us....did not offer to help!

My opinion not worth 4 star !! We moved out the day after and found a great 5 star hotel - Ritz Carlton.

“Great Holiday”

Sonesta Beach Resort & Casino

4 of 5 stars

Just returned from a 2 week holiday at Sonesta Beach and had a fantastic time!

The hotel itself is huge. The blocks of rooms are quite spread out and at first it can be a bit confusing to find your way around, but after a couple of days its fine! The gardens around the hotel are immaculately kept and the gardening staff work throughout the day to keep them looking lovely.

The rooms are a good size, with everything you could need on holiday. We had a great view of the mountains from our balcony, great for watching the sunset! The lighting in the bathroom and dressing room is a bit dim at night...so it can sometimes be a bit tricky to do your make-up for a night out, but we managed!

The food is really nice, although it can get a bit repeatative! I'm a bit of a fussy eater and i found plenty to eat everyday. There are theme nights at the buffet restaurants every night - Tex Mex, Egyptian, French, Italian, Oriental etc, so there's something for everyone.

All of the staff are very friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them.

There are activites in the day with the animation team, either in the pool or on the beach, water volleyball, water aerobics, darts tournaments etc which are a lot of fun. The animation team are great, very friendly bunch of people and always try to get everyone involved! The nightly entertainment is ok, some nights it's better than others. This again is done by the animation team, so it appeals to children quite a lot.

The beach is gorgeous, you can see loads of different kinds of fish as soon as you step into the sea! You can buy a snorkelling kit from the shop on site for about £5, and it will keep you occupied for hours...there's so much to see under the water! We never had a problem finding a sun lounger on the beach, eventhough it isn't a huge stretch of beach. People selling excursions from the beach can be a bit annoying, asking you to go on one everyday, but they're all really polite and chat with you and a simple 'no thanks' or 'not today' is usually enough for them to leave you alone. We took a glass bottom boat trip from the beach, which was a great way to pass an hour or so one afternoon!

We booked one excursion through our rep at the hotel - Stars & Dinner. You spend the evening in the dessert with the Bedouins and they cook for you whilst you watch the sunset, then an astronomer talks you through the star constallations, and you have an opportunity to use the telescopes to look the planets. Really enjoyable evening out.

Naama Bay is about a 15 minute walk away from the hotel. You can either walk down the main road...or walk along the path (turn right at the beach) which has lots of little bars and restuarants. We chose to get a taxi into Naama Bay, then walk back as it was still 35degrees at night. You will find everything in Naama Bay - bars, restuarants, shops. There are loads of Shisha Cafe's aswell..they're worth a visit.

Overall it was a great holiday and would definatly go back, just maybe when it was slightly cooler as somedays it did get very hot, but what do you expect in the middle of July!!!
