“dirty hotel”

Delta Pyramids Hotel

Jun 20, 2008

my husband, daughter and i stayed at the delta pyramids in 2007. we had booked a triple room, but my daughter ended up sleeping on a matress on floor, apparently they didn't have any spare beds, but this was the least of our problems. breakfast was provided but none of us could eat it, it was horrible and we ended up eating at nearby MERIDIAN PYRAMIDS hotel who served us with mouth watering cuisine and made us very welcome. we also swam in their pool as at the delta pyramid hotel the pool floor was very slippy, my husband slipped and another guest also fell but the staff wer'nt interested. the whole hotel smelt of cooking, not a nice smell, it was as though they were using engine oil to cook with. we had to phone daily on numerous occasions to get clean towels and toilet rolls, and the bathroom wasn't very clean. my daughter was very poorly, she was vomiting and had severe diarrorea, there was no doctor at hotel and she ended up at a&e.

“Hardly a 4 Star Hotel!!!!”

Delta Pyramids Hotel

1 of 5 stars
Manitoba
Apr 20, 2008

We recently stayed at the Delta Pyramids Hotel for our trip to Egypt. We had a total of 4 nights - 2 at the beginning of the trip and 2 at the end. The first 2 nights were horrible - the majority of the rooms have a view of the pyramids at Giza - but as a result they are also on the street side of a major artery. With the single paned glass we might as well have been sleeping on the street because the noise of the horns went on all night, both nights. The room itself was a huge disappointment. Dirty to the point of being disgusting. If this hotel were in North America it would be condemned. I have stayed in 1 star hotels that were ten times cleaner than this place. There were bare copper wires on the floor underneath the night stand. The dust on the bed headboards was so thick that when I put my nightgown on it there was a black mark from where it had touched the headboard. When I looked out the window I came away with a dirty t-shirt! There were no bannisters on the internal stairways. Even the dining room was suspect - it was a buffet style, you had to check your plate, cup and cutlery before eating as they were not all the same degree of clean. They did not change the table linens between guests so if the person before was a sloppy eater you got to enjoy their slop while you ate.

We told our tour guide how we felt about the accommodations and were promised a room on the "back" for our return visit. We did end up with a room on the back facing the brick wall of a neighboring building - but were grateful because at the least the brick wall was silent. The wedding celebration band that started playing at 9:40pm was noisy though - but that only lasted about 45 minutes or so. The room itself was pretty much in the same state as our first room. The toilet seat was not attached so one had to be careful when using the facilities. Our drink glasses from the night before were not so as rinsed out, never mind replaced with clean ones - however it was clear the housekeeping had been to the room because the beds had been made.

The good:
There is a pool and a terrace on the top floor with a view of the pyramids and its cheep. The trick to staying in this hotel is to take a back room. I cant stress this enough, the view is nice but sleep is better!!!!

The bad: The food is poor, dont order room service. The breakfast is ok (we never got sick). The road noise on front fracing rooms is terrible, they have a view but its not worth it when the terrace has the best view and you can sleep at night in a back room. staff/service was ok. beds and bathrooms were clean, rest of hotel wasnt great.

Also when leaving the hotel for food, the mena house hotel is nearby (via taxi 5-10EGP or walk for those brave enough) and has good resterants and for those walking if you leave the front door and turn right there are a few places to grab a bite down the street, ive heard good things about the pizza.

“cheap hotel means poor services”

Delta Pyramids Hotel

Jan 24, 2008

Too much noise, low quality accomodation, but what do you expect in such a cheap hotel. ..If we only knew, we would certainly book in another hotel. The only positive things were the gentle attitude of the staff, and the breakfast.

i returned home from cairo yesterday, the hotel is advertised as being in cairo it is actually in giza, the view of the pyramids is amazing to wake up to but we started on the third floor and we couldn't sleep at all wouldv'e slept better on the airport runway, staff moved us as soon as we asked so that was good but the staff also ask for money constantley which is annoying the restaurant staff were polite and friendly but then they started to ask us if they could come up to our rooms. electrics in the rooms were awful and the lights kept going out! hotel staff put us in a taxi hey recommended and it was a complete death trap the driver even drove the wrong way up a slip road and had to bribe the police to let us pass, my advice would be if you wanted to see egypt go for the nile cruise and only stop in cairo for a couple of ays as it is the most dirtiest place ive seen and the begging and learing is horrible even the police are like it. i've added photos of the view but the view is all you get in the hotel
