My husband and I stayed at the hotel from 7-10 Feb 08. It looked like a quaint colonial house. Service was excellent. Rooms were big and tastefully decorated. The food was pretty good considering, with more than sufficient variety. The pool area is lovely. Would suggest a room facing the pool as the ones on the outside are by a main road and may be noisy. Prices at the hotel are resonable. Only complaint is the hard mattress and the room walls are thin so you can hear the TV next door and people moving about in the corridor.

We stayed in the Savoy Hotel from 21-24 December 2007 and again on 12 January 2008. The hotel is an absolute gem. The rooms are large, very well decorated, set around a pool, and very clean. What leaves an impression is the collection of antiques that have been used throughout the hotel. Beautiful, and very well arranged. The hotel has on the second floor a reading room, where you can sit, have a cup of tea or a coctail, and just enjoy being there. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food is okay. We went to have a look at the Strand Hotel, and had planned to have a coctail and perhaps dinner in the Strand. We quickly decided that the Savoy was a much better place to spend our evening! There is no doubt that we would stay there again if we went back to Yangon.

We really enjoyed this hotel. We were there for one night at the beginning and two nights at the end of our visit to Myanmar. Both times we stayed in one of the hotel's spacious suites. Of the two suites, we found that the one facing the pool was quieter than the one facing the front yard. Both were quite nice however. This is not a 5 star hotel but there are tv's with several international news channels, modern fixtures in the bath and an electronic safe. The beds are large and comfortable and the a/c works well. Our only complaint is that the shower water pressure and temperature consistency left something to be desired. Room service is available 24-7 at no extra charge. We had a nice meal in the 2nd floor restaurant at a table with a view of the Shwedagon Pagoda all lit up at night. Note that if you can't climb stairs, ask for a room on the first floor - their is no elevator. The staff are friendly and helpful. We would not stay anywhere else in Yangon.

Old days colonial charm oozes in Savoy Rangoon. This is a renovated old house full of antiques and interesting bits and pieces to look at. Rooms are large and have dark teak floors with views either of the pool or the front yard. We would recommend the pool side rooms since they are more quiet and the view is nicer. This hotel has a magnificent little bar and a very good restaurant. We felt like as we had been taken back in time when sitting in the empty upstairs restaurant having afternoon tea. It really feels like you are not in a hotel at all but more likely in someones house with all the lovely pictures on the walls, book cases and old beautiful furniture. Service is superb and the main butler must have been working for the British Club in the past! Such manners from the old world. We assure you, you will feel the same when having your cool gin and tonic by the pool served with some home made crisps. As it is to be expected at this kind of a place, the front desk service was excellent. We highly recommend this place for people who want something other than big, 5-star, international chain hotels.
