Just returned from the Rimonim Neptune in Eilat. This hotel definitely doesn't deserve the 3 stars it's been given (officially-tripadvisor members give it 4). It deserves 4 if not 5 (once again, officially).
The hotel has been recently renovated, and the renovations are still ongoing (there was a suite near my room which was being renovated- slightly eery, but out of the way so it's not visible- and I believe a second pool is being constructed. All the rooms are brand new, and have a Miami Beach/modern motif. Our double room had a comfortable bed; flat-screen TV; and spacious closet. The room had many ocean colors (thus Neptune, god of the sea): the curtains were green-blue as were the lamps and many other textiles in the room, and the furniture was a mix of gray and white which gave off the modern feel. Each room also has a balcony with 2 chairs and a table. The view from the balcony goes straight out onto the Red Sea- in some rooms both the pool and sea is visible.
The lobby of the hotel is gorgeous. Modern sitting areas with vibrant colors (green, blue, orange and some gray), and the reception area has a desk of various stones (again, blues + greens). There is also a themed bar.
The pool area is very relaxed, but be careful as it can be slippery. There are plentiful lounge chairs, and beds, with umbrellas scattered around the area. There are actually 2 pools, divided into 3 sections: toddlers pool, children's pool, and swimming pool. The swimming pool is GREAT for swimming lengths! The pool is especially pretty at night (when it's closed) as there are multicolored lamps underwater and fountains. Towels are available during pool and beach hours, and are free of charge (if you wish to go snorkeling or swimming on another beach in Eilat, feel free to take towels from the hotel).
The beach is just a minute's walk from the hotel. There is an exit by the pool onto the promenade behind the hotel. Approximately 50 meters walking distance down the promenade will bring you to the hotel's private beach (Niki Beach). There are lots of lounge beds, and umbrellas available. The beach is nice, and features an enclosed bar area, with pool tables.
The hotel also has a great restaurant! Breakfast (and dinner, in our case) is included in the room fare, and it is worth every penny. Both meals are delicious, and there is always a big supply of food available! Dinner is different nightly, while breakfast is usually the same.
Breakfast: wide selection of vegetables, cheeses and yogurts. There are also a few varieties of eggs and an omelet station. Pancakes and Belgian waffles; fish; fruits; cereals; coffees. NO bacon, ham, sausage, etc because of Kosher dietary restrictions. There are few places at all in Israel where you will find this sort of food.
Dinner: different each night, but always: wide selection of vegetables, some type of meat (usually chicken + something else). Rice, couscous or potatoes. Fish. And a pleasing selection of desserts. Drinks (apart from water) are NOT included.
