“Great resort hotel”

Rimonim Neptune Eilat

5 of 5 stars
Rockland NY
Sep 18, 2008

The Neptune hotel was a terrific place to stay. Eilat was the last stop on a 10-day visit to Israel and the plan was to finally get some R&R in. We couldn't have picked a better place. The hotel is ultra-modern and the rooms were absolutely perfect. Whoever built this hotel was clever. EVERY room looks out onto the pool area and the Red Sea beyond.

The breakfast was the best of all hotels I stayed at and the pool was outstanding. We had to check out at 11am but we were allowed to stay at the pool as long as we liked and could shower and change in the spa downstairs. Use of the spa (gym equipment etc) was not free.

The one negative was that the phones do NOT let you dial out. My cell (for some reason) did not operate while in Eilat and I wanted to call around for restaurant and scuba reservations and could not. I made my scuba reservation with their concierge and that worked out well.

A note about booking. Be careful about staying over a Saturday. This is an Israeli hot-spot and people bring their little urchins along on the weekend. It's quite a madhouse with the kids around but they all clear out by Saturday afternoon.

We stayed in the hotel for three nights. This hotel is considered to be only on the second tier level in Eilat hotels. Much to our surprise we found it excellent - best in terms of crew loyalty and food level. The rooms are totally renovated and modern

“Funky & Fun!”

I had three oceanview rooms at the Neptune for three nights and as our first stop on our two week Israeli tour, the Neptune was a perfect choice. The hotel's guests are 99% Israeli. Not much English is spoken here and I happen to love that. I wanted the real Israeli expercience and we weren't disappointed. The location couldn't be better. It's situated right on the beach, with a fun and colorful market between the hotel and the beach. The hotel has been completely refurbished and it's very brightly decorated with turquoise, silver, and white. The hotel is immaculate! The famous Israeli breakfast was extensive. Our dollar made the dinner a bit expensive, but we found lots of other restaurants nearby. "Aroma", the Starbucks of the Middle East, is across from the Hilton, and they served wonderful fresh salads and sandwiches. The staff was very friendly. Obviously, I have only praise for this property. My Israeli travel agent suggested it and I was a bit reluctant, but I was pleasantly surprised! Go for it!

“Great Stay!”

Rimonim Neptune Eilat

Just returned from the Rimonim Neptune in Eilat. This hotel definitely doesn't deserve the 3 stars it's been given (officially-tripadvisor members give it 4). It deserves 4 if not 5 (once again, officially).

The hotel has been recently renovated, and the renovations are still ongoing (there was a suite near my room which was being renovated- slightly eery, but out of the way so it's not visible- and I believe a second pool is being constructed. All the rooms are brand new, and have a Miami Beach/modern motif. Our double room had a comfortable bed; flat-screen TV; and spacious closet. The room had many ocean colors (thus Neptune, god of the sea): the curtains were green-blue as were the lamps and many other textiles in the room, and the furniture was a mix of gray and white which gave off the modern feel. Each room also has a balcony with 2 chairs and a table. The view from the balcony goes straight out onto the Red Sea- in some rooms both the pool and sea is visible.

The lobby of the hotel is gorgeous. Modern sitting areas with vibrant colors (green, blue, orange and some gray), and the reception area has a desk of various stones (again, blues + greens). There is also a themed bar.

The pool area is very relaxed, but be careful as it can be slippery. There are plentiful lounge chairs, and beds, with umbrellas scattered around the area. There are actually 2 pools, divided into 3 sections: toddlers pool, children's pool, and swimming pool. The swimming pool is GREAT for swimming lengths! The pool is especially pretty at night (when it's closed) as there are multicolored lamps underwater and fountains. Towels are available during pool and beach hours, and are free of charge (if you wish to go snorkeling or swimming on another beach in Eilat, feel free to take towels from the hotel).

The beach is just a minute's walk from the hotel. There is an exit by the pool onto the promenade behind the hotel. Approximately 50 meters walking distance down the promenade will bring you to the hotel's private beach (Niki Beach). There are lots of lounge beds, and umbrellas available. The beach is nice, and features an enclosed bar area, with pool tables.

The hotel also has a great restaurant! Breakfast (and dinner, in our case) is included in the room fare, and it is worth every penny. Both meals are delicious, and there is always a big supply of food available! Dinner is different nightly, while breakfast is usually the same.

Breakfast: wide selection of vegetables, cheeses and yogurts. There are also a few varieties of eggs and an omelet station. Pancakes and Belgian waffles; fish; fruits; cereals; coffees. NO bacon, ham, sausage, etc because of Kosher dietary restrictions. There are few places at all in Israel where you will find this sort of food.

Dinner: different each night, but always: wide selection of vegetables, some type of meat (usually chicken + something else). Rice, couscous or potatoes. Fish. And a pleasing selection of desserts. Drinks (apart from water) are NOT included.

  • This TripAdvisor Member:
    • Liked — the rooms + pool + views
    • Disliked — only 2 meals a day, not 3!

“Good family hotel”

I'll write in bullet-style the negative and positive points just to make my life easier ;-)
We stayed at the hotel the weekend of 20/03/08; standard room, HB

positive
a. good price...We booked as foreigners through an agency in Israel (email me if you want more info) and got a $350 deal for 2 nights, 2 people, Half board...which is great..Israelis usually pay more but as we had a foreign passport we got a good price.
b. excellent location... I think this hotel is in the best location in all of Eilat.. Our room looked down to the beach, the shops and the central area...excellent location!
c. great staff... The staff is really very helpful and tries to make your stay more pleasant. The manager always walked around during the meals asking us if we were happy or needed something else. The nice receptionists allowed us to check out late and check-in early. Compliments to the amazing staff!
d. excellent Thursday night dinner! The dinner on this day was very good, a lot of variety and great servers/chefs!
d. Nice spa... There's a decent size health club and jacuzzi for use (at additional payment)
e. Excellent views of the sea... Our room was located on the 3rd floor and had great views of the beach, the city itself and the pools.

negatives
a. not great Shabbat food...Friday night and Saturday morning meals were very modest and the selection reflected Thursday evening's... so we ended up being hungry and checking out a good restaurant just below the Dan Eilat hotel. It's owned by a French man and there's many French tourists eating there. It's called Sea-Side and the cuisine is mediterranean. Rather on the pricey side (8 euro for a single pizza, 10 for a salad plate)
b. lack of evening entertainment and no animation team... The hotel lacks this and it seems rather boring to lay around the pool all day long.. There were some singers performing on Friday night but the hall was empty and I think it was because no one was informed of this performance..There are no signs indicating what is happening at the hotel in the evenings.
c. Pool closes at 5 p.m.! The pool and pool area (including a ping-pong table which we liked a lot, as there was nothing else to do) close at 5 and the sun is still up! Everyone is asked to leave as the area needs to be cleaned!
d. The walls to the rooms are very thin and we could hear the housekeeping vacuuming in the room next door at 8 a.m.! There goes our vacation/sleeping in late plan!

Well that's it..I hope my review helps..Email me if you have specific questions..
