“Nothing Special - Decent Hotel”

Holiday Inn Anaheim-Resort Area

3 of 5 stars
Mill Valley, California
Aug 25, 2008

We booked this hotel through Priceline and got a 20% discount off rack rates.

Our room was clean although some of the furnishings were showing a bit of wear and tear.

The room had a decent sized refrigerator and a coffee maker, but no microwave. (You could use the one in the gift shop.)

Our room face the freeway, so there was a bit of road noise, but the air conditioner masked that well.

The hotel is a few minutes drive from Disney, but still a decent choice if you are going to the parks.

Interesting note - we only got one bar of soap that had to be shared between the sink and shower.

“Nice Holiday Inn”

Holiday Inn Anaheim-Resort Area

4 of 5 stars
Dallas, TX
Aug 12, 2008

I have stayed here twice - for business purposes. So not speaking from a "family on vacation" perspective. Hotel is very nice, with a great staff. Nine story building, with elevators that are quick. Never waited more than 15 seconds, and I was on the 9th floor. Desk staff is very professional and attentive. Wireless internet has great signal.
Nice fitness center, although there is only one of each: treadmill, eliptical, exer-bike -- also a multi-function weight machine. Pool is large and resort style - although it is also shared with the Staybridge Suites (Holiday Inn property) next door - so a bit crowded.
Rooms are nice for a individual, but probably a bit small for a family of 4. But if you are spending your time at Disney and Knotts Berry - who cares.
A previous contributor complained about the small "kids meals". But when I read that the kids were both 10 yrs old, remembered that my kids ate more than I did at that age. So don't be cheap, buy them a meal. I ate breakfast, nice buffet, and yes $12 per.
This hotel is not really walking distance to Disney, however you will walk 10 times the distance while you are inside Disney. The better point is that it is on the frontage road of I-5, with no restaurants within walking distance.
Reasonable rates - probably because it is not next to Disney.

“Says Kids Eat Free, Should Say Kids Starve to Death,on baby portions”

Holiday Inn Anaheim-Resort Area

Family of 4, with twins age 10. Breakfast buffet is $12 plus tax and tip per adult. Kids may only eat from the kids menu. WoW, are they ever cheap. My kids said " That was a good snack, I'm hungry". Since was around $30, and the kids were hungry, and we had buffet, I let them grab a muffin (size small), from the buffet, the waiter saw this and said with mean eyes, that will be an extra $2.75, plus tax. Kids are not allowed any food , but what we provide. So we paid, left, never ate there again. Our plan was to stay 8 days, 7 nights, and eat all meals in this restaurant. Our plans had to change because I didn't feel comfortable there anymore. So we had to jump on a local bus everyday cost is $8 per day for the family, go to Disneyland, walk across the street to a very nice restaurant that serves buffets for breakfast, dinner, and supper. Kids eat all they want, and are very happy. Parents eat all they want, and pay less than hotel. Very nice staff, very good food. One supper we went to Disneyland "Goofy's Kitchen", which is a character supper.
WoW- a billion choices of food, characters with photo's and autographs were: Goofy, pluto, Minnie Mouse, Fairy Godmother, Prince Charming, Chip/Dale? Had so much fun, Would recommend every human on earth, go to a character supper or breakfast. It was worth the whole trip from Canada. Food was great, pop was coming every 5 minutes, characters were everywhere, and not in a hurry to leave. We loved it. I only recommend this hotel for parents under the age of 4. 2 Double beds in one room is not a good idea for a family. No privacy, and kids that are used to there own beds, need there own beds, or they kick eachother in bed after 6 nights. Pay the extra to get bunk beds or seperate beds for kids, so they don't drive eachother crazy. I complained to Guest services by hotel phone, they could care less, put me on hold so long I hung up. Beds not comfortable, adults had sore backs every morning. Air conditioner is very loud, shuts on and off and wakes you up, but you need a/c, due to the hot weather. So we didn't sleep well. This hotel is not close to anything. Stay at a hotel across the street from Disneyland for the same price, and have a choice of restaurants that will not rip you off. We will never stay here again. And from now on never let your travel agent book you in any hotel more than 2 days straight, so that if your not happy, you can be free to leave and not take there crap. We just got home on July 15/08. Never again. But loved California. No bugs, ocean wonderful. Will be back to CA, but never, here. Thanks .

“Awful!!! Very Rude Employees/ Worst ever/DON'T STAY HERE!”

This hotel is operated by the rudest desk clerks I have ever encountered and I travel often. Never again will I ever stay at a Holiday Inn due to their lack of BASIC customer service. They are obviously a very unhappy bunch.

On the positive, This is a nice enough property. Housekeeping was excellent and we left a large tip as a thank you. It's unfortunate that this hotel doesn't have better management and front desk clerks because I believe business would be much better.

We were able to book this hotel somewhat last minute when the rest of the Resort area hotels were fully booked- Now I know why!
It has nothing to do with the property- cleanliness, comfort were surprising- on par with Hyatt and Hilton. The room was nice and the bed was very comfortable & double sheeted.

I won't ever stay here again due to the rude people.

“Not good at all !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

I am writing becoz I saw some very good reviews about this hotel.I am surprised.I bet the positive reviews for this hotel is probably written mostly by the Holiday Inn Hotel management itself.
This hotel really bad in every way.Basically it lacks the most important thing "cleanliness".Enter the hotel lobby you will smell it!
Customer service is worst again. There are a lot of other hotels in the resort group, any one of them will definitely have better rooms and service then this hotel.
Not recommendable for anyone!!!!!!
