We booked this hotel for the facilities and the fact that it was out of the main tourist bit of Prague.
But when we got there we were disappointed to hear that they'd double booked and were moving us up to their sister hotel, the Green Lobster beside the castle, which, when we got there, wasn't what we were wanting at all.
So we got moved back down to Tyl the day after.
Once we finally got settled there, it was great.
Really clean, spacious rooms. Comfy beds. And a window that overlooked a small grassy park to the front of the hotel.
Even though it was beside a tram stop, we had no issues with noise the whole stay (we were there for 5 nights).
The breakfast was good, with plenty of choice for every taste, and enough to keep you going until lunchtime. Hot and cold options were available.
And it was fab to be able to go into the jaccuzzi to chill out after a day of walking around the town. Great for soothing tired feet!
We would of used the gym, but were so tired by the time we got back that it was a case of doing as little as possible!
We also liked that the hotel was out of the main tourist trap. And therefor restaurants weren't as expensive there as they were in town.
We were recommended Matilda's , on the same square as the hotel, and it was fantastic food, and even the wine wasn't overpriced!!
So thumbs up to that one!
And there is also a small pizza place around the corner from there that we went to, which was also cheap, and nice, although Matilda's had a bit more atmosphere.
We also found the transport links that this was close to (the Metro, and tram stops) very easy to use. Although, BE WARNED they have no empathy for tourists! We were stopped by the ticket inspector to check our tickets on the Metro, and both were fined 700 koruny (about £25) for not having stamped our tickets properly!
Getting to / from the airport was also easy, bus (119) from the airport to the Metro line - you can only go one way on the line - then get off at the Muesum and change lines to go to IP Pavlova. And when you get there take the first exit from the station on your right and then the hotel is pretty much second st on the left.
Easy!
Overall, we were really happy with our stay at the Tyl. Staff are fantasticlly friendly and helpful, and easy access to all transport links. Only ten mins walk to Wencless Sq, and about twenty mins to the bridge.
I would definately come back here again! :-)
