This hotel is very cheap - $140 a night in this part of the city is unheard of - by comparison I stayed in the Doubletree for $500 around 52nd street as I had business earlier in the week in the city. The hotel is very near NYU dorms so there are a lot of students and young people around... more

I recently stayed at the St. Marks Hotel in NYC and was pleasantly surprised. The rooms were small, as were the bathrooms, but very clean. Every day, my room was cleaned and fresh towels were provided. Every time I came to my floor, it smelled as if the carpets had just been cleaned. The only down side to my stay,... more

There were a couple of good and average things about this hotel but there were more bad things. Good things: cheap, excellent location, nice staff, right by a 24 hour pizza/sandwich shop that had pretty good food, we requested a quiet room and we got a quiet room Mediocre things: very small room (expect that in NY though), air conditioner... more

Booked this in August for NYU parents weekend in October. I wanted to be w/in walking distance to my daughter's dorm. Everything else was booked. Read the reviews and even checked it out in person on dorm move in day. Seemed okay. I realized "you get what you pay for". However, if you want to sleep, this place is not... more

Overall, we were happy with this hotel in terms of location, facilities and price. There were a couple of problems that I'll detail below. We checked in at around 7pm and everything went smoothly, explored New York the next day and came back to our hotel at around 3pm. We were watching TV when the door of our room opened... more

This hotel is for those travelers that are just looking for a place to sleep. We only went back to the room at night and for that it was absolutely perfect. It was cheap to be on Manhattan Island (140/night including tax) and was right next to a couple different subway stations (green, yellow, and orange lines and one stop... more

And what it is is a budget choice in NYC. 4 walls, a bed and a private bath for $150 is a deal in this city. Only 2 short blocks to the Astor place subway station. The room was small and spartanly furnished but clean and they tidied it and brought fresh towels daily. Yes, the bathroom was small. Yes,... more

My story is so amazing that I can understand if you don´t believe, but I can say is completely true. I really want to share with you because I don´t want anyone to be in the same situation. I booked a room for me and my wife. Of course I was looking for a budget hotel and searching tripadvisor cost... more

A nice fancy location, in the middle of the mess of the Village. The hotel is old, no elevator (a problem with luggages if you are in the upper floors), not so much clean, but not so much expensive. Nice for one night in the City. The area is really "strange" full of drunk people, some drugs, but if you... more

I really wanted to like this hotel! It's located in a great area of New York (close to where my sister used to live, so I might be a little biased)...every other step is an interesting restaurant or bar, there's so much life, off the beaten path for tourists, etc. BUT... this hotel is extremely basic, even by NY standards.... more
