if you are looking for a cheap and decent place to stay in san diego then i would highly recommend this Inn/motel. the concierge serice was good. our room had a musty smell but overall it was well kept. it had all the basic amenities including a microwave oven. the locality was not that great- in the midst of a... more

We, two adults and a nine years old child, stayed at the Lamplighter Inn on the 8th of July for two nights. Very nice Motel. Clean and on a street with little traffic. That means quiet a good condition for sleeping after a hard day of exploring San Diego. Very friendly staff. The guy at the reception gave us a... more

A really friendly hotel and fantastic value for money. The reception staff and manager were very chatty and helpful both when we checked in and throughout our stay. The hotel is not centrally located but, in the university area, it is within easy reach of downtown (15 minutes drive?). The plus here is that the area is quiet and well-equipped... more

We stayed for two nights at the Lamplighter Inn on the way to a wedding in Ensenada. I had read the good reviews of this hotel and wondered whether it would live up to them. I'm pleased to say that it did in every sense. From the time we arrived till the time we left, the staff could not have... more

This place was better than most Best Western hotels. We stayed for two nights and thought the whole property looked pretty nice. The room was updated, the service was good, and we actually liked the location. The pool was a little small, but then so was the whole property. It wasn't next to anything exciting, but it was easy to... more

We stayed here during the infamous Comicon weekend. I state this, because it was used a few times as an excuse for things that were not right (not getting the room we requested, our room card not working after check-in, no parking left in the parking lot) and it didn't really make sense. Certainly there are other times the hotel... more

We booked our stay at the Lamplighter Inn based on Trip Advisor reviews! We had decent expectations but not over the top due to the great rate we received. It was my husband and myself traveling with our toddler for our first official family vacation. From the minute we pulled into the parking lot, we felt safe and at home.... more

I came here earlier this year with my girlfriend solely based on tripadvisor reviews..and the fact that we were curious how, especially at this price, this little place was so high up the rankings. And, as usual, consistently good reviews come shining through. Such a pleasant wonderful, personal place to stay. And for the price, wow. more
