Very formal, and nice hotel. Super clean inside and out. I was there for a convention, and this hotel is around 7-8 blocks from the Convention Center. The only complaints I have are the number of homeless people that seem to gather in the park across the street from the hotel, and there was a bar across the street from... more

I stayed at the US Grant for a week from 1 November 2008. The hotel can only be described as majestic, it is architecturally magnificent. On arriving from the airport in a cab ($10, but the 992 airport bus stops right outside the hotel for $1.25), I was warmly and genuinely greeted by the doorman, he took my bag and... more

This hotel is probably one of the best hotels I've stayed at. (although to be fair, I mostly stay in hostels while traveling) However, this was a special occasion - it was my going away party right before I moved to London. A few friends and I decided to get a room and have a night on the town. The... more

I recently had business in downtown San Diego and decided to stay and US Grant. As others have noted, the location is very convenient to the gaslamp district, Horton shopping plaza, the convention center, and it's just a five minute walk to the harbor The hotel has been wonderfully renovated and the staff is very warm and accommodating. Not only... more

Stayed 5 nights in this hotel and loved every minute. The service of all staff is excellent and everyone is dedicated to being helpful. The hotel has been beautifully restored recently and the furnishings in the bedrooms are stylish yet classical. The location in downtown S.D. is ideal for the vibrant nightlife of the gaslamp district and the convetion centre.... more

We stayed at the US Grant on October 9-11, as a mini-break prior to taking a Mexican Riviera cruise. The hotel is really quite beautiful and the location is excellent...right in the heart of town, near the Gaslamp District and Horton Plaza. An expensive hotel, but we received lots of amenities included in our package price. The area is frequented... more

I booked this hotel because most of the other hotels in the area were a bit pricey. I was hoping we would have received a larger room. We asked for a quiet room, and boy was it away from a lot of things. As we were leaving the hotel, sneaking a peek in other rooms, it appeared that all of... more

Recently I spent two nights at the US Grant Hotel while on a business trip. The rate for my room was $139, plus $17.50 for local taxes, per night. On the Web, I saw that the retail rate for the room is around $340/night, if I recall correctly. The hotel-- what I saw of it-- is beautifully decorated. It was... more

We stayed at the US Grant for 1 night and it was wonderful. The staff was helpful and friendly. The hotel is beautifully decorated. It is also walking distance to the Gas Lamp District with plenty of restuarant. I would stay here again. more
