Fabulous hotel, and reasonably well located. Not close to the heart of Rangoon like Traders and The Strand, but close enough by taxi. The one-way fare to Scots Market was around $4, and took about 15 minutes - if that. The rooms were really nice, as were the restaurants. And the swimming pool area was a great place to escape... more

A lovely hotel. Fantastic food and not too expensive. Friendly staff. We stayed in a suite as it was low season and he rates were low. The extra space was fantastic. Breakfast was good as well. There is a shoe shop just up the road which is also very good. more

stayed at Savoy either side of a trip to ngapali (wonderful). the savoy is just the best place to stay in Yangon. they keep it simple and yet it is comfortable and authentic (ish) . staff are all pleasant and competent. reccommend dining out on the 1st floor terrace for a lovely atmosphere and excellent food. the whole of our... more

I stayed here with my girlfriend at the beginning and end of our week-long trip to Myanmar. On the way in, we were impressed with the attention to detail, but it wasn't until we were stuck there when Cyclone Nargis hit, that the staff really went out of their way to accomodate. The hotel itself is beautiful, and during the... more

My husband and I stayed at this lovely hotel in September 2006 upon arrival in Yangon and again before departure from Myanmar. Overall: very pleasant stay, extremely helpful and service-oriented staff speaking perfect English, good breakfast, nice room and comfortable beds. Hotel: colonial style with lots of antiques around. Outdoor pool: relatively small, but nice setting. Rooms: big and nicely... more

My husband and I stayed at the hotel from 7-10 Feb 08. It looked like a quaint colonial house. Service was excellent. Rooms were big and tastefully decorated. The food was pretty good considering, with more than sufficient variety. The pool area is lovely. Would suggest a room facing the pool as the ones on the outside are by a... more

We stayed in the Savoy Hotel from 21-24 December 2007 and again on 12 January 2008. The hotel is an absolute gem. The rooms are large, very well decorated, set around a pool, and very clean. What leaves an impression is the collection of antiques that have been used throughout the hotel. Beautiful, and very well arranged. The hotel has... more

We really enjoyed this hotel. We were there for one night at the beginning and two nights at the end of our visit to Myanmar. Both times we stayed in one of the hotel's spacious suites. Of the two suites, we found that the one facing the pool was quieter than the one facing the front yard. Both were quite... more

Old days colonial charm oozes in Savoy Rangoon. This is a renovated old house full of antiques and interesting bits and pieces to look at. Rooms are large and have dark teak floors with views either of the pool or the front yard. We would recommend the pool side rooms since they are more quiet and the view is nicer.... more

The Savoy in Yangon is a gem - gorgeous contemporary design with plenty of local character and some of the most generously sized rooms available for these prices. Staff were consistently friendly and helpful, even when we appeared two hours late for breakfast the day after arrival. Lovely pool, decent food (not spectacular but given the constraints...) and close to... more
