My recent stay at the Governor's House was enjoyable... The lush green garden and tropical trees were soothing to the soul. Relaxing by the pool was simply joyful. The service was fantastic especially during breakfast when the staff's enthusiasm gave you a great start for the day! The teak furniture in the cosy room was so beautiful that I had... more

My 86-year-old mother, my sister and I have just returned to the US from Myanmar. During two overnights in Yangon we stayed at the Governor's Residence. Previously I have stayed twice at excellent Strand Hotel on visits to Yangon, I will happily return to either hotel in the future. Located in a residential neighborhood amid embassy houses and other colonial... more

I would definitely take up residence in this amazing hotel. My husband and I had the pleasure of staying here for a few nights on either side of a trip to Ngwe Saung Beach. We found everything here to be of the highest standard. The absolutely exquisite food by the delightful French chef was outstanding. The rooms are very well... more

We spend a few weeks ago my wife and myself a couple of nights at The Governors Residence in Yangon and it was simply marvellous! The room was very cosy and the gardens are beautiful with a great variety of tropical plants. We were told that the hotel just reopened after renovations. The staff was pleasant and we were greeted upon... more

This hotel is truly special. The rooms are beautiful with colonial charm. The decor is warm , friendly and inviting. It is truly a boutique hotel. Sitting at the bar evokes the feeling one is in a novel, partaking in an authentic, bygone era. At dinner time the lawn is decorated with paper umbrellas and lanterns, beautiful, elegant and delicious.... more

From the moment your car door is opened and you step onto the covered wooden bridge leading into the luxuriant tropical garden to the sound of a soft gong announcing your arrival, you know you have reached somewhere special. This was my second visit to the wonderful old Shan Governors’ Residence and I found it even more beautiful than I... more

We spent just one night in this elegant four star hotel, formerly the Pansea, peacefully located in Yangon’s ‘embassy district’, about 3 km from the city centre (Sule Paya). The property is a sensitive conversion of the residence of the former governor of the Shan territories and has pleasant gardens and a small but adequate pool. The public areas are... more

This former residence is beautifully maintained and oozes atmosphere. The management offers excellent service, the rooms are comfortable and the meals were well-presented and good. All of this is very difficult given the current situation in the country. We also enjoyed relaxing by the pool in the lush tropical gardens. We had booked a deluxe room which was large, clean... more

I have just returned from one of my best trips ever - one week in Yangon, Inle Lake and Bagan. In Yangon I stayed at the Governor's Residence one night before and after the trip and it was a treat. The moment I stepped over the entry (with the sound of a welcoming gong) I was sure to have made... more

Lovely "colonial" building, impressive place to walk in to ! My room was huge, had a very modern clean nice bathroom, airconditioning, large bed - everything I would have wanted ! Nice garden and pool area, lighted at night; restaurant has terrace so you can enjoy your meal outside - a perfect way to start a vacation in Myanmar !... more
