OK, full disclosure here, I did not actually book a room here (I tried, several months in advance, and it was already fully booked... that's how popular it is), but I did dine here on 2 separate occasions (lunch one day, then dinner on another occasion). A member of the hotel staff graciously offered to show me 2 different types... more

I stayed at the Dwarika's Hotel for a total of 5 days, on either side of a trek into the wilds of the Samarmatha region of Eastern Nepal. The hotel features lots of carved wood windows, etc. in the Bahktipur style recovered by the man who built the place. It is lovely. The hotel takes up most of a block... more

A deceiving building, very sensitively renovated. Walking through the non descript entrance from the busy, very noisy road the calmness ,tranquility and beautiful architecture are breathtaking. Two restaurants, one generic 'world' cuisine, the other traditional Nepalese offer a wide choice with great service. As our flight to Lukla was delayed for several days we stayed longer than anticipated and had... more

The hotel lived up to the many reviews. We (a party of four) were treated so well during our 3 night stay. We had very large and impressive rooms with views over the inner courtyard, large comfortable beds, bath, shower and ample sitting space. The aircon was quiet, needed and effective. The hotel was peaceful and we slept so well... more

Having read all of the previous 20 reviews, I'll try to not repeat too many points or observations. Overall, my two stays at the Dwarika's over the past 10 days were very positive. One can only take so much of the hustle and bustle and hawking and smoke and traffic of vibrant Kathmandu before yearning for a beautiful and peaceful... more

Words cannot explain how great this place is. I have travelled a lot but this place is my number 1! The restraunt even serves a 22 course meal....not that I could manage it, but all the food was top-notch. Service is flwaless and the building...well its clear why its a world heritage site. more

The Dwarikas in Kathmandu is a great hotel in Kathmandu, only a few minutes drive from the airport. Everything about this hotel is lovely, the staff is extremely helpful, our room (standard room as far as we know) was huge - more like an apartment than a hotel room, shower, bath, two sinks and a large mirror, large beedroom and... more

I stayed here 2 weekends ago as my base for a mini escape from HK (Dragonair then had fri night flights that left HK for Kathmandu & returned Sunday midnight to HK for a 5 am arrival on Mon morning) Dwarika is only 5 minutes away from the airport so being able to go to bed quickly after one's flight... more

Dwarika Hotel: an oasis in a sea of orgranized chaos and humanity outside. The hotel is a short distance away from the airport. However, it is located (15-30 minute taxi ride) outside of the main Kathmandu valley shopping and sightseeing areas. All the services and amenities that you would expect from a 5 star hotel are available. The room is... more

Kathmandu is an incredibly noisy place but as you walk through the entrance to Dwarikas, it's like a oasis of calm. The staff are most welcoming and most speak excellent English. We found the service at the outside restaurant to be rather slow but the food was good. The Nepalese restaurant is absolutely fabulous - a real treat! Our only... more
