Staying at the Smuggler's Inn was the one blot on an otherwise perfect golf holiday. Thankfully we had booked the rooms for one night only. My room was dingy, the bathroom was unappealing. A request for a wake up call was met with the advice to use a mobile phone. No provision was made for early breakfast for golfers other... more

Restaurant was fine--good food and service. The room we stayed in was downright bad: dingy and tatty. The bathroom was a closet, smelling faintly of vomit, every fixture was old and cheap, very little hot water. The beds were rickety and cheap. We had an early tee time, but there was no wakeup service--we were told to program our cell... more

Was travelling around Ireland with my boyfriend for a few weeks in June and have to say this was one of the nicest places we stayed. It was the proper irish welcome we were expecting in so many other places. We had a lovely room with a fantastic view and our own small conservatory/balcony looking out to the Atlantic ocean,... more

We were looking for a place for one night in waterville and saw the sign so we stopped and asked the owner if they had any rooms. It was pretty late so she gave us a great rate and the place looked ok so we decided to stay. The rooms are nothing special, they are clean and quite large but... more

i'm sorry to say but after just one hour and changing rooms, we still had to leave. the windows were so dirty you could hardly see out, the t.v remote did'nt work, there was no handle on the 'bathroom' door which was about 2' x8' (tiny) with a very old shower and toilet..and this was the upgraded room..if you want... more

Stayed here for one night, wasn't sure what to expect as no prior knowledge - just saw their sign on passing through Waterville looking for a place to stay for the night. We were given two rooms overlooking the sea - which I must admit really was a fantastic view. Not sure how great an experience it would be if... more

What a welcome! If it's skillfully cooked food using the freshest local ingredients you are after then the Smugglers is the place to head for. We were treated to the best of Irish hospitality and made to feel like family. Kerry Lamb, Black Sole, Prawns Ketafi, even a wonderful Seafood Curry rustled up on request were exquiste! The staff were... more

Myself, partner & 4yr old son recently stayed at the smugglers inn. Our room was overlooking the golf links so not much of a view and it was right above the bar which was a bit noisy but didn't keep us awake. The location was superb, right on the beach with fabulous views and plenty to do around the surrounding... more

My husband and I stayed at the Smugglers Inn for two nights. I would agree with the previous review in that the food in the restaurant is good, but the accommodation is basic, though if you choose to stay I would recommend you pay the extra and book a superior room, (though for €70 a night pp, I have stayed... more

The staff, provided excellent service all round, the restaurant has wonderfull sea views, and serves excellent food. BUT the accommodation is far from the same standard being Dated, Basic & overpriced. compared to similar place we stayed. in Ireland. Till the care and attention to detail, that is clearly shown in the restaurant, is applied to the accomodation I would... more
