Casco Viejo is definitely worth a visit and bring your camera. Old dilapidated buildings stand alongside newly gentrified buildings. Many churches to visit and a central plaza. It's pretty easy to spend a few hours here. Tons of history, lots of old restored & unrestored buildings on narrow streets that date back as far as the 1600's. Good place to spend about 1/2 day. We went to the Museo de Canal, walked around, and then grabbed lunch at a small cafe. My favorite part was just walking around, taking in the history and observing the slow but certain gentrification of the area. more
